| Mission: The
mission of St. Dominic School is to develop
Christian leaders by providing a Roman Catholic
education that continues the life long process in
which the child forms and lives principles

Religious
Education:
Religious
education of students is an important part of
every school day. Students participate in the
celebration of the mass twice a week, have
various other prayer experiences and learn about
their faith in daily classroom instruction. top

Accreditation:
St.
Dominic School is accredited by the State of
Kansas. It is currently in Cycle II of the QPA
process. The school has identified the areas of
reading comprehension, math computation and
writing as areas of improvement. Students in
various grades participate in the Kansas
assessments in math, reading, writing, science ,
and social studies. In addition, all students
take the Comprehensive Test
of Basic Skills (CTBS). top

Music:
Music
is held twice a week for half an hour per class.
In addition to learning about music, the music
for the mass is practiced and students are
encouraged to lead the singing at mass in the 6th
grade choir. Students in the 5th & 6th Grade
have the opportunity to learn a musicl insturment
in the afterschool band program.

Library:
Students
utilize the library throughout the week for
checking out books. On Friday each class spends
half an hour learning library skills and being
assisted by Mrs. Blackburn, the librarian. A $15
fee per family at enrollment time assures that
our library will continue to grow with the
interests and needs of the students. top

Technology:
Students
of St. Dominic School have access to computers in
both their classrooms and a computer lab. Each
classroom has 3 to 5 computers for student use.
In the classroom students use technology for
Accelerated Reader testing, academic enrichment
and writing. Students work on technology skills
twice a week in the computer lab. Multimedia
projects are also done in the lab. All computers
in the school have access to the internet via a
wireless connection.program. top

PE: Students
participate in physical education twice a week
for half an hour each time. In Grade K through 3
movement concepts are the main emphasis as well
as the use of these concepts in games. Grade
4-5-6 learn sport skills and play modified games
using these. Twice a year the Fitnessgram is
given that tests students in 6 areas of fitness
and indicates whether their scores are in a
healthy or unhealthy range depending on age.

Pre-School:
Preschool
is offered on Mon/Wed morning for 3 years olds. 4
years olds can enroll in Mon/Wed afternoon class
or a Tues/Thurs afternoon class. For more details
