Mission
The mission of St. Dominic School is to develop Christian leaders by providing a Roman Catholic education that continues the life long process in which the child forms and lives principles according to the example and teachings of Christ.

Accreditation
St. Dominic School is accredited by the State of Kansas. It is currently in Cycle II of the QPA process. The school has identified the areas of reading comprehension, math computation and writing as areas of improvement. Students in various grades participate in the Kansas assessments in math, reading, writing, science, and social studies. In addition, students in grades one through six take the Comprehensive Test of Basic Skills (CTBS).

Religious Education
Religious education of students is an important part of every school day. Students participate in the celebration of the mass twice a week, have various other prayer experiences and learn about their faith in daily classroom instruction.

Music
Music is held once a week. In addition to learning about music, the music for the mass is practiced. Students in grade 6 lead the singing during school masses. Students in the 5th & 6th Grade have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument in the afterschool band program.

Physical Education
Students participate in physical education twice a week for half an hour each time. Student explore a variety of movement concepts and game skills following the Physical Essentials curriculum. In the fall and spring students participate in the Fitnessgram, testing 6 areas of fitness for healthy ranges.

Library
Students utilize the library throughout the week for checking out books. On Friday each class spends half an hour learning library skills and being assisted by Mrs. Blackburn, the librarian. A $15 fee per family at enrollment time assures that our library will continue to grow with the interests and needs of the students.

Technology
Students of St. Dominic School have access to computers in both their classrooms and a computer lab. Each classroom has 3 to 5 computers for student use. In the classroom students use technology for Accelerated Reader testing, academic enrichment and writing. Students work on technology skills twice a week in the computer lab. Multimedia projects are also done in the lab. All computers in the school have access to the internet via a wireless connection.

Pre-School
Pre-school is offered for 4 year old children. The program focuses on early childhood skills of socialization, language development, eye-hand coordination, listening skills, shape and numeral recognition, direction following, color awareness and small muscle control. Students participate in a variety of hands-on activites.
