~ Weekly prizes for top three sellers January 13 to February 2
~ this event is our big fund raiser for the year.
~ We would appreciate all families participating by selling tickets and/or helping with the dinner and games.
~More tickets can be picked up in the office. Students can turn in their sold raffle tickets and money and receive prizes for top sellers each week as explained on the prize sheet that was sent home last week.

• We have all shapes & sizes of plastic jars in the hallway by the front door. Anything (except live animals!) is acceptable for jar filler.
• Make them fancy or simple. The kids will love them -- especially if they are involved in the decorating. This is a popular game prize at the dinner so we need alot.
• Volunteer forms for the Spaghetti Dinner were sent home today also.(white) We need your help! This is a school event and its all on our shoulders, so please give generously of your time and talent

After School Pick Up

•• Drop off and pick up on the correct side (west) of street, or you must walk them across the street.
••We have had too many close calls.
••Don't let the excuse of "running late" cause us to be in a hurry and accidently careless.

Tardies

~ Tardies are piling up!
~ Please get your student to bed early so he/she can be fed
~ (Breakfast is very important!) and
be here by 7:55 AM.
~ It makes for a better day for everyone!

V

Target Red Cards

~ Parents get their TARGET RED CARD and it is swiped just like a debit card from their bank acct (this is not a credit card).

~The customer gets an automatic 5% off their purchase and the school of their choice, being St Dominic, gets 1% of the purchase donation.

~Some parents and parishioners are already doing this because we have been receiving a check quarterly from Target.

~With the Holidays approaching and the spending that comes with that, now would be the perfect time for our parents to get on board.

~ Go to Target to get more info.

PSO News

• Box Tops contest is coming up!
• Start collecting them from friends and relatives.
• The final collection will be the week after Parent/Teacher conferences so those days off will give your students something to do:  Cutting out the box tops!
•It will make the counting of them much easier for Jennifer Meng, who is chairing this project, if they arrive already clipped.

Attendance

Attendance is very important at St. Dominic School! Students are missed when they are not here. Please make every effort to have your student in school, every day, all day!

XII

Sweatshirts

Sweatshirts that were ordered were sent home yesterday.
If you have questions about your order, please call
we'll try to figure it out.
Again, thank you PSO!

Bus Loading

  • You may not park directly in front of the school between the reserved parking signs.

  • This is a bus loading zone and must be kept open.

  • This applies to before and after school, especially.

  • Please keep that area open.

After School Dismissal

  • We ask that you please PARK your vehicle, in a parking spot, along the curb closest to the school building when picking your child up from school.

  • Please do not stop in the street and ask your child to walk out to you.

  • Know that we are looking out for the safety of ALL students, (and for the bumpers of your vehicles).

  • Thank you for being so prompt in picking up your students!

  • All families have done a great job with this this year

Office Hours

Mrs. Drevnick is at lunch from 11:30-12:30. Please plan to purchase Dillon certificates and Walmart cards at any other time.

Reserved Parking in Front of School

  • Just a reminder that those are reserved BEFORE school, as well as AFTER school for the families named on the sign .
  • Please respect those spots and the fact that these families paid a great deal of money last year to get those spots.
  • They will come again for purchase - maybe at the Spaghetti Dinner.
  • Until then - they are taken.

Dress Code Violations

Consequences for Dress Code Violations have changed!

Due to a huge increase in Dress Code violations last school year, we have made some changes to our Dress Code consequences. the Dress Code can also be found in your student's agenda – Parent/Student handbook section, and the consequences for having a Dress Code violation. Each class has had the changes explained to them in detail. Parents, we ask that you please support us in this policy. Note, changes apply to students in grades 2 through 6 only.

Tardies

If your student is coming home with tardy slips, please come in and check our clock. It is possible that your home or car clock differs from ours. We are beginning to have many, many tardies. Students are to be at school no later than 8. Promptness is a life long skill that all of us need to help our young students develop. If a student comes after 8:05 they must stop in the office and get a tardy slip.

Campbell Labels
General Mills Box Tops

Turn in General Mills Box Tops.

Remember to save Campbell's Labels for Education. Thank you to our parents who take on this program and the General Mills Box Tops. It takes a lot of time to trim and tally up all those labels. Keep saving them.

Weather Policy

(See page 2 of your Parent/Student Handbook which is found in your student's agenda.) St. Dominic School will follow USD 457's policy regarding bad weather. IF THE WEATHER LOOKS THE SLIGHTEST BIT INCLEMENT PLEASE TURN ON YOUR RADIO OR TV (Cable channel 21 is the USD 457 station) PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE SCHOOL. Use the radio and television for your information concerning late starting or early dismissal times. Our phone lines are not adequate to handle multiple calls. (If our line is busy, we cannot get the notice from USD 457.) Do not drop your students off and leave unless you are absolutely sure the doors are unlocked. The lights may be on, but there may be no one here!

For some time now, Wal-Mart has limited us on the amount of gift cards we can have per month to about a third of what we previously sold. This is beginning to show on our “bottom line”. On the other hand, Dillons has never limited us on the amount. When you shop at Dillons, please purchase certificates from St. Dominic School.

Don't forget to get your Dillons & Walmart cards. Continue buying them at the school office, parish office, or after Mass.
